What have we been up to on our adoption journey since we completed the homestudy and went live?

We have been patiently receiving and reviewing potential situations that are sent to our email. Included in the emails is a brief snapshot of the birth family’s current situation and history. Sometimes they include an ultrasound picture and other times they include photos of children the family has had previously. Not going to lie — seeing that first ultrasound photo made our journey feel much more real! Cue all of the feelings!

After reviewing the email, we engage in a conversation about if this family is a good fit for us. Many of you know that other than wanting to adopt an infant, we are open to almost any situation we receive. Once we let our agency know that we are interested in being considered by the birth family, they share our adoption profile and we anxiously await to see if we have been chosen.

To date, we have asked to be considered for 11 situations. We have not been selected but are continuing to learn patience and grow as humans — both individually and as a couple.
